Why Do I Coach

“Why do you coach?”

This is a question I get a lot—especially after I left my stable job to pursue ontological coaching full-time.

The answer is simple: I coach because I deeply believe in the cause. There’s something profoundly meaningful about supporting others in unlocking their potential and creating a life they desire.

When my clients share how coaching has benefitted them – whether it’s a breakthrough in mindset, a shift in perspective, or newfound clarity – I am moved. It’s deeply humbling and fulfilling to know I played a part in that journey. But I always make sure to give them the credit, because at the end of the day, their growth, learning, and outcomes are a result of their own efforts.

I am simply part of the process.

As a coach, my responsibility is not to give answers or solutions but to create the space for my clients to find their own. I don’t tell them what to do. I help them come up with their own answers, uncovering insights they may not have seen before. I hold the space, and they do the work.

Here’s the thing: my clients are already whole, resourceful, and creative in their own right.

They’ve lived through years of experiences and developed tools and approaches that have helped them succeed. They’re already equipped with a lot of what they need to thrive. But sometimes, life gets in the way. They may feel stuck, dissatisfied, or too comfortable in their current situation. They may want to shift into something more meaningful, productive, or satisfactory. This is where coaching comes in.

Coaching isn’t about fixing people. It’s not about teaching or claiming that I know more than they do. It’s about creating an equal partnership—a space where we can explore new perspectives together, and where they can discover a new way forward. It’s about recognizing distinctions in languageemotions, and the body that were once invisible to them.

Because you can’t tackle what you can’t see or don’t know.

And that’s where I come in. As a coach, I offer a gentle yet direct presence to help my clients uncover the ‘unknown.’ Together, we explore what’s hidden beneath the surface—the unseen barriers, the unnoticed beliefs, the untapped potential. With this deeper understanding, they can make empowered decisions and create real change.

That’s why I coach: not because I have all the answers, but because I believe in the power of people to change their lives when they’re given the right space to do so.
